Model Christian College celebrated Cultural Day 2026 on February 21 at the college auditorium under the theme “Carrying Culture Forward.” The programme began with an opening prayer by Dr. Mhabemo Odyuo, Vice-Principal, followed by a welcome address by Neichüzunuo Rüpreo, Coordinator of the Cultural Club.
The event featured a series of enriching presentations, including The History of Konyak Headhunters, My Land, a folk fusion performance, and The Three Sons: A Naga Origin Myth. The programme was graced by the guest speaker, Meripeni, Under Secretary and Project Lead, NSEDM, and founder of the Mekhela Wednesday Movement, who encouraged students to value and preserve their cultural heritage.
Cultural competitions such as traditional rice winnowing, Tholei, stilt bamboo race, and Angu Kupusu (spear kick) added excitement to the celebration. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, a closing prayer, and refreshments.
Cultural Day 2026 marked a meaningful and successful celebration of tradition, unity, and identity.
