The Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has issued a stern warning against the continued use of the term “Pagala Pahar” in reference to the Tsiedukhru Range, despite repeated public clarifications.

In a statement, the Council emphasized that the Tsiedukhru Range holds deep traditional and historical significance for Chümoukedima and its natives, being closely tied to the village’s folklores and legends. The Council described the slang term as offensive and an attempt to belittle the village’s heritage.

“Reducing a revered place of heritage to a slang term is not only offensive but also undermines our history,” the statement said.

The CVC further warned that any person, group, or agency using the term “Pagala Pahar” in reference to the Tsiedukhru Range will face legal action or punitive measures under customary practice, as deemed appropriate.

The statement was signed by Razouvotuo Chatsu, Chairman, and Khriezo Shüya, GB.
