In anticipation of the 25th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2025, the Chedema Village Youth Organisation (CVYO) officially launched its team jersey on Friday at Maloo Indoor Stadium, Chedema.
The launch event was graced by Dr. John Zhale, State Program Officer, National Ayush Mission, Government of Nagaland. In his address, Dr. Zhale reminded players that “football is a game of many mistakes,” stressing that errors in crossing, dribbling, or controlling the ball should not discourage them. He added, “Do not be discouraged by mistakes; instead, let them be your teacher. Learn from them and keep playing to the best of your ability, and at the end of the day, victory will be yours.”
The programme was chaired by Vikhotsolie Pienyü, Vice President of CVYO, while President Zhabu Thevo delivered the welcome address. Kekhrieselie Chakrüno, Associate Pastor of CRC, invoked God’s blessings. The event also witnessed the presence of council chairmen of Chedema and Chede Model Village, VDB members, Head GB, and well-wishers.
The jersey launch signals CVYO FC’s readiness for the prestigious tournament, where they will face Amigos FC Tesophenyu in their opening match at IG Stadium, Kohima, on Saturday evening.
Over the years, Chedema’s football representation has taken different forms under CVYO, CVSU, and Circle FC, with notable achievements including CVYO reaching the NSF semi-finals, losing to Rongmei FC 0–1, CVSU finishing as third runners-up in 2014, and Circle FC reaching the semi-finals in 2024, where they were defeated by Asufii FA 1–2.
