The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has advised its members and constituent units against participating in the Naga Youth Movement’s (NYM) proposed public gathering at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on October 28 in an official capacity.
In an advisory signed by CYF president Kevesa Khamo and vice president Vetho Vadeo, the organisation said no member or unit should participate in or represent the CYF at the gathering in an official capacity.
The advisory stated that the decision was intended to maintain organisational discipline and ensure that the CYF and its constituent units acted in accordance with the decisions and mandate of the Chakhesang public.
The advisory comes ahead of the NYM’s planned gathering to press for the time-bound implementation of the Framework Agreement signed in 2015 and the Agreed Position of 2017.
The NYM had earlier stated that it submitted a representation to the Governor of Nagaland on July 8, seeking implementation of the agreements and setting an ultimatum that ended on October 8. After receiving no response, it submitted a second representation on October 13, which it said also went unanswered.
Speaking at a press conference in Dimapur on Wednesday, NYM member Molung Naga said the movement had decided to take its concerns directly to the Governor after receiving no response to its representations.
The NYM has maintained that it is seeking implementation of the agreements and is not acting against any organisation or faction.
The CYF advisory specifies that members should not participate under the organisation’s banner or represent it in an official capacity.
