A delegation from the Delhi Ao Kaketshir Telongjem (DAKT) warmly welcomed S Supongmeren Jamir, the newly elected Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, from Nagaland upon his arrival at Delhi Airport on 7 June 2024.

In a brief program held at the airport, DAKT President Yimjungjungshi Sanglir extended his congratulations and best wishes to S Supongmeren Jamir. The president expressed optimism about the future under the able leadership of Supongmeren Jamir.

He highlighted the aspirations of the Nagas in Delhi, emphasizing their hope to achieve new heights and work collectively towards the betterment of society. He also wished Supongmeren good health and wisdom from the Almighty to lead effectively.

In his response, S Supongmeren Jamir expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their warm reception and kind words. He assured the delegates of his unwavering support for their initiatives and emphasized his commitment to serving the community and advancing their interests.

Supongmeren Jamir pledges change and development

Indian National Congress candidate S Supongmeren Jamir, who won the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland, asserted that his victory reflects the people’s desire for change. Speaking to the media at Dimapur airport en route to Delhi on Friday, Jamir emphasized the public’s confidence in the Congress party and pledged to work towards justice for the people. He affirmed his commitment to addressing the critical issue of ‘educated unemployed’ problem and advancing developmental initiatives in the state.

Expressing gratitude to the voters, Jamir said the electorate had chosen democracy by supporting the Congress, rejecting an opposition-less government incapable of safeguarding their rights. He warned against the state descending into violence and disruption, as seen in neighboring Assam and Manipur.

Addressing internal party dynamics, Jamir dismissed concerns about discord within the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, affirming unity among its members.

Accompanied by senior officials from the Pradesh Congress Committee, Jamir is headed to Delhi to attend Parliament and the extended Congress Working Committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
