A District-Level Quiz Competition was held on November 11, 2024, at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office in Mokokchung, organized by the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) under the National AIDS Control Organization.

Addressing the participants, Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer of Mokokchung, emphasized that “HIV prevention practices are key to curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS.” He educated students on the three types of blood cells—red, white, and platelets—and their roles in transport, immunity, and clotting. He explained that the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) targets the body’s white blood cells, weakening the immune system. While there is no cure for HIV/AIDS, he noted that antiretroviral therapy (ART) is used to treat individuals with HIV/AIDS, helping to prolong their lifespan.
