The Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) has appealed to Nagaland Police to reinvigorate the investigation into the recent hit-and-run incident that happened in Dimapur recently where the victim succumbed to her injuries. While appreciating the relentless effort made by the Nagaland Police to nab the absconding driver along with the vehicle, DAYO said that thorough investigation be carried out so that justice is served and the citizens repose their faith in the rule of law.

DAYO said that it has been following the unfortunate hit-and-run case that has caused the untimely death of an innocent student of St Joseph University on 25th May in all seriousness as a tribute to the deceased and to ensure that there are no recurrence of such tragic incidents.

DAYO also said that thousands of students and pedestrians commute in the road stretch from Green Park to the Cricket Stadium as a daily affair. “As such, in order to mitigate the risk and safety threats for the public it is the bounden duty of concerned authorities to construct proper sidewalks beside the road with necessary speed brakes, at the earliest,” DAYO observed. “As a high security zone with many future sporting destinations it will also be for public welfare to have more surveillance cameras at strategic locations,” it added.
