The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) strongly condemns the shocking and irresponsible act of issuing a life threat and derogatory remarks made by one W J Longkumer towards Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, a highly respected professor, renowned social activist and the Advisor to the Naga Mother’s Association, through a Facebook post.
Such a blatant threat to the life and dignity of a woman, a mother, grandmother and a noted academician is intolerable in a civilized society. We call upon the concerned law enforcing authorities to thoroughly investigate the intent behind this threat, and to ensure that the law takes its full course without yielding to any pressures.
DAYO firmly reiterate that any anti-social elements do not carry the identity of any tribe or community. Wrongdoers should be isolated and no society should shield them from accountability and punishment. DAYO further cautioned every Ao youth and Naga youths to be responsible and judicious in the usage of social media given its social sensitivity as well as the existence of stringent cyber laws.
We extend our complete solidarity and support to Mrs. Rosemary and her family during this difficult time. We also laud the prompt arrest of the accused by the Dimapur police and also urge the judiciary to award exemplary judgement, so that such crime are not repeated by anyone in the future.
Media Cell, DAYO.
