The simmering tensions between the NSCN (Khango) and the proprietor of KKB have ignited a firestorm in Nagaland, drawing sharp condemnation from the Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO). In a move that has shaken the community, the NSCN (Khango) recently pronounced a shocking death sentence on K Rulho, a Naga contractor, over allegations of non-payment of ‘tax’—a verdict denounced by DAYO as alien to Naga society and a betrayal of the sacrifices made by their forefathers for the Naga cause.

While condemning the NSCN (Khango) for issuing the death threat, DAYO stated that the gravity of the situation has thrust the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) into a pivotal role as the apex Angami youth body to mediate and resolve the crisis and expressed its solidarity and support to the AYO.

“DAYO condemns the audacity of NSCN (Khango) to issue death sentence based on forceful collection and extortion to a fellow Naga. Such diktak is alien to Naga society and undermines our forefathers’ sacrifices, who unitedly gave their best for the Naga cause,” DAYO said in a press statement.

It also said that the subsequent reaction of the NSCN (Khango) to the AYO press statement has “drawn the battle line” between the two entity and observed that any provocation from either side will drag the Naga society into a “cortex of vicious violence.”

DAYO also questioned the silence of the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) and the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), holding them accountable for the current state of affairs. ” It is because of the lackadaisical attitude of the CFMG over the years in implementing the ceasefire ground rules that is pushing Nagaland to a state of anarchy,” DAYO added. “The NPGs, instead of being in their designated camps, are on an extortion spree with the guns issued to numerous cardholders,” it added.

DAYO further stated that the patience and endurance of the Naga public against unabated and multiple forced extortion should not be taken as a sign of weakness. “The citizens of Nagaland are on the verge meltdown. It just needs a spark to start a public uprising,” DAYO cautioned.

In a clarion call for unity, DAYO urged all like-minded Naga youth organizations to stand united during this time of socio-political challenges. “If not now, when? Can Naga youth stand united against nefarious forces making a mockery of human values, respect, and our indelible history?” it asked.

“We will not be found wanting when the coming Naga generation seeks answers,” DAYO said, while declaring its support to AYO.

“DAYO stands with AYO, shoulder to shoulder, to curb this cancerous growth of 24 factions and still counting, whose ideologies are now mostly based on spreading fear psychosis and extortion,” it said.
