The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has extended its support to the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) in its efforts to ensure the completion of the Naga Foothills Road, a significant infrastructure project aimed at connecting Tizit in Mon district to Khelma in Peren district.

In a statement, DAYO emphasized the importance of the project, noting that despite the allocation of Rs 148.5 crore for the upgrade of the foothills road under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment, as announced in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly’s 2024-25 budget session, the work order for the project has been “inordinately delayed.”

“This road is truly an extraordinary road project,” the statement said. “Landowners donated the land without any compensation, nor was any monetary demand made to any Naga Political Groups (NPGs),” highlighting the community-driven nature of the initiative.

DAYO further stated that the re-alignment of the road would not be allowed to serve the self-interest of any individual unless officially approved by the Committee. The organization expressed its strong commitment to the project and to supporting the NFHRCC’s efforts.

“DAYO will stand all out with the 4-days deadline of the NFHRCC and its further directives until the work order is notified as demanded,” the organization affirmed.
