Longleng, November 4 (MTNews): In continuation of a previous notification pertaining to the protection of Amur Falcons, the Deputy Commissioner of Longleng has notified that Amur Falcon is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and that trapping, killing and selling of Amur Falcon is a criminal offense punishable with three years rigorous imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 25,000/- or both under section 51 of the said Act.
In this connection, all the Village Council Chairmen and Ward Presidents under the Longleng district have been directed to take up the matter as a top priority and to monitor and give strict instructions within their respective jurisdiction.
