DC Meluri reviews education progress at Government High School Akhegwo

The Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K. Mhathung Tanglao, NCS, accompanied by the SDEO Meluri, Kaitunchap Newmai, visited Government High School, Akhegwo, today to assess the school’s progress, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities for improving education in the district.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner and SDEO interacted with school staff, students, stakeholders, and community leaders. The discussions focused on enhancing enrolment, improving infrastructure, supporting teacher development, and fostering community participation in school activities.

Deputy Commissioner Tanglao highlighted the critical role of education as the driving force of the economy. He urged teachers, as government employees, to remain sincere and dedicated in their work, stating that their salaries should be a reflection of the services they provide without guilt. He also encouraged teachers and community members to actively support students, especially girls, and emphasized his commitment as a government officer to serve the people. He noted that solutions to the challenges faced by schools lie within the community and called for collective efforts to address them.

SDEO Meluri, Kaitunchap Newmai, praised the dedication of the teaching staff and students and lauded the community’s ongoing support. He stressed that collaborative efforts between educators, parents, and local leaders are essential for shaping the future of education in Meluri District.

The visit concluded with a pledge to launch an awareness drive aimed at highlighting the importance of education and encouraging higher student enrolment. Follow-up measures will be undertaken to address challenges identified during the visit and to review the progress of initiatives implemented in the school.
