Mokokchung, 04 April (MTNews) The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has in an order issued on Tuesday instructed all Pharmacies and Medical Stores within Mokokchung district that the drugs mentioned under Schedule ‘X’, ‘H’ and ‘HI’ which are restrictive in nature shall be sold based only on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner stated in the order that the sale of the mentioned Schedule drugs shall be recorded in a separate register mentioning the name and address of the prescriber, the patient, and the drug, and the quantity sold, and that such record shall be maintained for three years and shall be open for inspection.
This was in compliance and reiteration to Rule 65 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and as amended through Gazette notification GSR 588(E), Dated 30 August, 2013, the order read.
In addition to the above, the Deputy Commissioner also stated in the order that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has adopted a “strategic intervention” as part of the Joint Action Plan for the Protection of Child Rights and combating substance abuse among children. Accordingly, all the pharmacies and medical stores selling Schedule ‘X’, ‘H’ and ‘HI’ drugs have been directed to install CCTV cameras along with proper recording and storage of minimum 2 months data within a period of 2 months from the date of issue of the order.
“Footages of the CCTV cameras shall be regularly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority/ District Enforcement Force, Mokokchung. Non-compliance to the above direction may invite legal action under Section 133 of the CrPC,” the order read.
