Mokokchung, August 5 (MTNews): Mokokchung District Bharat Scouts and Guides has inducted Shashank Pratap Singh IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung as District President of BSG Mokokchung at DC Conference room, Mokokchung on Friday.
During a brief induction ceremony, Shashank Pratap Singh stated that the Bharat Scouts and Guides was a pre-independence organization and played an important aspect in maintaining civil duties. “It is a civil force multiplier,” he said.
He went on the highlight the role to be played by the BSG during the 75th Indian Independence Day, adding that BSG as part of maintaining civil duties need to be involved in the National Movement of Har Ghar Tiranga during the Azadika Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The DC also extended his full co-operation and also expressed his desire to fulfill the principles and duties as the president of BSG Mokokchung District.
Tovili Wati, DOC (G), during the welcome address stated that the three finger BSG salute signifies Honoring God & Country, Helping Others and Obeying the Scout Law while the left handed handshake signified friendship.
She further added that Mokokchung District Bharat Scouts and Guides was formed on 1949 way before the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides which was formed in 1967. She went on to say that, BSG was a voluntary organization and its programs comprises of activity based learning.
The program was chaired by Sentimenla, ADOC (G), while the Oath Taking ceremony was administered by Lipokmar, DOC (S) and Vote of thanks was said by Burtoshi, Scout Master and Nungsanglemba, ADOC (S) pronounced the invocation.
