As a fellow citizen, I want to address a concerning issue that has been brewing in our country—the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) backed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology in India. This ideological shift has significant implications for our democracy, our social fabric, and our collective future.

The RSS, a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization, has long been associated with the BJP and has been instrumental in shaping its political agenda. The ideology propagated by the RSS is rooted in a vision of India as a Hindu Rashtra, or a Hindu nation, where Hindu culture and values are paramount. This exclusivist ideology threatens the pluralistic and inclusive fabric of our nation, which has thrived on diversity and coexistence for centuries.

The rise of the BJP backed RSS ideology in India has manifested in various ways, from policies and rhetoric that marginalize minorities to attempts to rewrite history and undermine secular principles. This ideological shift has led to increased polarization, discrimination, and violence against religious and cultural minorities, creating a climate of fear and insecurity among vulnerable communities.

The RSS ideology promotes a narrow and homogenized version of Indian identity, which excludes and alienates those who do not fit its narrow definition of who belongs. This exclusivist approach goes against the principles of equality, diversity, and tolerance that are enshrined in our Constitution and have long been cherished as the bedrock of our society.

As responsible citizens of a democratic nation, it is our duty to speak out against the rise of divisive and exclusionary ideologies that seek to sow seeds of discord and hatred among our people. We must reaffirm our commitment to pluralism, secularism, and social harmony, and reject any attempts to subvert these fundamental values that define our nation.

It is crucial for us to engage in open dialogue, bridge divides, and promote understanding and empathy across communities. We must stand in solidarity with those who are marginalized and oppressed, and work towards building a more inclusive and just society for all.

The rise of the BJP backed RSS ideology in India is a cause for concern that requires our collective attention and action. Let us uphold the values of democracy, secularism, and pluralism that have defined our nation for generations, and strive to build a future where all individuals, regardless of their background or beliefs, can live in dignity and peace.

In Conclusion, I want to reiterate that, Nagaland is a state with a Christian majority of almost 99%, proudly identifies as “Nagaland for Christ.” However, it is concerning that we have aligned ourselves with a party like the BJP, which stands in opposition to our religious beliefs, our culture, and our way of life. It is essential for us not to be swayed by the temptations of wealth and pleasure, but to stand strong in our faith in Christ.

Now is the time for us to unapologetically proclaim that Nagas are for Christ and to reject any party or ideology that threatens our beliefs. Let us stand united in our faith and make decisions that honor our commitment to Christ above all else.
