Delayed upgradation of IMDH, IOC to Rotary Junction road discussed in Mokokchung DPDB meeting

The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for August and September 2024 was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, under the chairmanship of Speaker NLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Sharingain Longkumer.

The Chairman informed the members that, in addition to the coaching center “Shisalen Riju,” which was initiated by DPDB Mokokchung, the board will undertake new initiatives in three sectors: procuring an ambulance with a life support system, installing a 5-metric-ton cold storage facility at the MMC complex, and addressing environmental concerns by supporting the production of banana stem fiber bags with a new machine.

While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the house deliberated on the delayed new project for the upgrade of IMDH. It was decided that an urgent meeting would be held with the concerned department and contractor to determine the reasons for the delay in completing the project.

The DEO Mokokchung, while presenting the status report on the department’s capital assets, informed the house that the construction of the auditorium, library, and laboratory at MGHSS, which began in 2014, has not yet been completed. On this matter, the Chairman of DPDB instructed the DEO to provide a detailed report within two weeks for further action.

The Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, briefed the members on the impact of recent landslides in the district. In Mokokchung town, landslides occurred in the Artang, Sungkomen, Kumlong, Lijaba Lijen, Alempang, and Tongdentsuyong wards. It was also reported that the village of Ungma and Yisemyong were also affected by landslides.

Regarding the IOC and Rotary Junction road stretch, the DC acknowledged OKM’s efforts and initiatives to repair the road. He also requested the Chairman to forward the issue to the respective department for intervention. The DC further appealed to the departments to assist OKM with available manpower or resources, noting that the Engineering Department would be providing machinery for the work.

In the meeting, 10 departments presented the status reports of their capital assets, while the remaining departments were instructed to present their reports at the next DPDB meeting.

The registration of societies, including the Shalom Education and Charitable Trust, Tuli; Melongtet Initiative, Kobulong, Mokokchung; and Naga Hills Farmers Federation Society, Mokokchung, was approved and forwarded. Additionally, the agenda proposed by the Principal of ICIT, Mokokchung, to change the institution’s name from ICIT, Mokokchung, to Government Polytechnic, Mokokchung, was also approved and forwarded.
