Mokokchung, 30 July (MTNews): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Delhi and Zeliangrong Welfare Association Delhi has denounced the attack carried out by the ZUF that resulted in the deaths of two NSCN-IM cadres, Captain Lt. Zongshongam P Huray and Captain Lt. Allen Sekho and the injury of one civilian in Rengpang village, Noney District on 28 July at around 3:00 AM.

“This agonizing circle of butchery against one another within ourselves is something we have repeatedly seen. As a civil society organisation, it is our steadfast position that we will always have opposed all acts of homicide and any act that incites animosity or rage and thus contributes to the deterioration of the peaceful society that we all have been valuing. This is true regardless of whom or from what party the perpetrators may come,” the two organizations said in a joint statement of condemnation received here.

They said that “the Naga Movement’s ultimate goal of achieving sovereignty in general and the Zeliangrong Homeland aspiration in particular is being undermined by these acts of ferocity and vexing at one another.”

These actions also violate the fundamental principle of engaging in peace negotiations, they said. “We will not find a solution as long as we continue to treat one another so brutally; instead, we will just make things worse. We implore both parties to refrain entirely from using violence in the future,” they appealed.

They also urged the concerned authorities and Civil Organizations to take up necessary precautionary measures to avoid further killings in the Naga society.

They further said that they have also learned that some NSCN-IM cadres are being held captive by ZUF, and appealed for their quick release on humanitarian grounds to demonstrate the genuine meaning of peace and brotherhood.

“As we condemn the killings, we also extend our concerns and condolences to the bereaved families and pray that the departed souls rest in peace,” they added.
