A poster circulating widely on social media has called for a public rally on 7 November 2025 at Mangkolemba Town Hall, demanding the creation of a full-fledged Mangkolemba district.
“The demand for district-hood stems from the need for fair development and representation,” the poster claims, adding that “every region has the right to have its own district.”
The poster invokes the legacy of Dr Imkongliba Ao, describing him as “a symbol of courage, sacrifice and unwavering love for our land” and a leader who fought for the rights of his people. His mention appears aimed at rallying public sentiment and asserting the region’s historic contribution to Naga political identity.
The message ends with a call for unity:
Let us stand together and raise our voice for our rights to have district for equality, progress, and a better future for our people.”
While the demand for upgradation of administrative status for Mangkolemba has surfaced periodically over the years, this appears to be one of the more public mobilizations in recent times. It remains to be seen how the state government responds to renewed calls for district creation amidst ongoing administrative and political deliberations in Nagaland.
