The Department of Land Resources, Nagaland, has informed all farmers, growers, and individuals or groups involved in plantation crops like Rubber, Coffee, Areca nut (betel nut), etc., to contact their respective District Project Officers from 1 July for the registration of their farms and crops along with necessary documents. The required documents include an Aadhaar card, a passport-sized photo, and a mobile number.
This process aims to capture details such as the names and ID of the growers, the name and variety of the crop, the area coverage in hectares, the geo-locations of the plantations, the current or anticipated yield in kilograms, quintals, or metric tonnes, the year of planting, and the quality or grade of the produce.
The Department further informed that it aims to protect the interests of the farmers from market exploitation, facilitate the formation of Farmers Producers Organizations, prevent duplication of work with other departments, and help registered farmers access future assistance.
