Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang, who is also the Minister in charge of National Highways, will embark on a four-day tour starting November 11 to inspect and assess the progress of key National Highway projects across five districts—Phek, Kiphire, Tuensang, Shamator, and Mokokchung.

“The tour underscore the state government commitment of enhancing road connectivity, boost economic growth and improving travel safety for the public,” the Deputy CM’s office stated in an update.

Throughout the tour, the Deputy Chief Minister will visit various project sites, interact with engineers, and hold discussions with NHIDCL officials, contractors, and local organizations.

The focus will be on reviewing project progress, assessing construction timelines, checking for potential delays, and ensuring each project is on track to meet its scheduled completion time.

The Deputy Chief Minister will evaluate whether each project adheres to national quality and safety standards to ensure the long-term durability and reliability of the road networks.

He will also observe how each project integrates environmentally friendly construction practices, including proper drainage, green cover, and eco-friendly materials.

In addition, he plans to meet with local community members to gather feedback and address any concerns regarding construction impacts and accessibility.

At each project location, the Deputy Chief Minister will conduct high-level meetings with site engineers, contractors, and local communities to resolve any immediate bottlenecks and explore potential additional support from the state government to facilitate timely project completion.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that enhancing road infrastructure is crucial for economic growth and regional connectivity, representing a significant investment in the state’s future development.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to completing all highway projects with the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

The Deputy CM’s office also noted that the tour is part of a broader state government initiative to prioritize road infrastructure development and improve transportation networks, enabling better accessibility for citizens and reducing commute times.

“The Deputy Chief Minister’s findings and observations will assist in planning future road infrastructure projects and expediting current undertakings,” the office added.
