DIET Tuensang conducts Fire Safety Training

Faculties and student-teachers of the District Institute of Education and Training, Tuensang (DIET) participated in a “Training Program on Fire Safety and Measures” conducted in collaboration with the Fire and Emergency Services, Tuensang at the DIET campus on September 18, 2025. The program was organized by the EVS/SS Cell of DIET, Tuensang and saw active participation from the teaching faculties and second-year student-teachers of D.El.Ed.

Six fire personnel from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Tuensang were present for the program. The session was chaired by Thüpuveyo, Lecturer at DIET, who also delivered the welcome address.

In the first technical session, Resource Person Shri Hayang Chang, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), briefed the participants on the types and uses of fire extinguishers. In the second half of the session, Resource Person Shri Imti Chingmak, ASI, spoke on ways of handling LPG cylinders and preventive measures to avoid fire incidents caused by cylinder blasts.

The second technical session featured a practical demonstration by the fire personnel, who showcased different techniques for handling fire caused by gas leakage using LPG cylinders. Participants were also shown how to operate various types of fire extinguishers during fire emergencies. Both the faculty and student-teachers took part in the demonstration.

A question-and-answer session was held afterward, allowing participants to clear their doubts with the resource persons. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Grace K Semy, Lecturer at DIET, Tuensang.
