The Office of the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur has constituted a district-level committee to monitor LPG distribution and issued a regulatory circular on commercial LPG supply to curb hoarding, black marketing and ensure equitable distribution in the district.

In an order issued on March 23,Deputy Commissioner Dr Tinojongshi Chang announced the formation of a committee to oversee the distribution of LPG and other petroleum products. The move, in line with state government directives, aims to enforce regulations and prevent malpractices in the supply system. The Additional Deputy Commissioner will serve as convenor, with members including officials from police, civil supplies, legal metrology, and representatives of oil companies such as Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum. The committee will conduct inspections to check illegal storage, hoarding and overpricing, with strict action to be taken under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and related laws.

In a separate circular issued the same day, the DC office regulated the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders, prioritising essential sectors including hospitals, educational institutions, hotels and transport services. Supply will be based on average consumption over the previous three months, with distributors required to maintain records and submit daily reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
