Dimapur, 21 August (MTNews): Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal has reiterated that suspension of physical classes in the district which began today will remain till 26 August, considering the health of the students in particular and the public at large.
Responding to a representation submitted by the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Central to allow schools to remain open voluntary, Jaiswal said that the suspension of physical classes is intended to break one of the cycles of transmission and to prevent exponential surge of eye flu cases not only among students, but also among teachers and parents.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the matter was deliberated with the health authorities of the district wherein it was decided that partial opening of schools or classes would not be advisable.
While acknowledging that the concerns of ANPSA Central were genuinely focused on timely completion of syllabus and examination as per the schedule, the Deputy Commissioner, however, maintained that physical classes will remain suspended considering the health of the students and the public.
DC Niuland announces suspension of physical school classes
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland has also issued a critical announcement in response to the increasing cases of Conjunctivitis (commonly known as Eye Flu) in the district, particularly among school-going children.
After thorough deliberation with officials from the Department of Health & Family Welfare and the Department of School Education, and in light of the seriousness of the infection’s spread and the escalating number of cases, the DC informed that it has been decided that physical classes in schools will be temporarily suspended. This suspension will be in effect from 21 to 26 August.
In addition to the suspension of physical classes, the school authorities have been earnestly requested to explore alternative educational options during this period. Specifically, they are encouraged to consider implementing online classes to ensure that students can continue their education while maintaining their safety.
This decision has been made with the health and well-being of the students and the community in mind, it was informed.
