Dimapur, 3 August (MTNews): The 57th Foundation Day of Dimapur Government College was celebrated on 3 August 2023 in the college auditorium. The program was attended by the Principal, sponsors of Academic Awards, teachers, and the graduating and present students of the college. The program was chaired by Dr Maongkala Longchar, Assistant Prof, Department of English and invocation by Vivi Swu, Assoc Prof, Department of History.
Principal, Prof Sanjay Sharma in his speech congratulated the graduating students on their success and wished them well for their future. A special mention was made of the University Topper from the college, which was the first since the inception of the college. The Principal while encouraging the present students told them to take it as a challenge to achieve similar height.
“Pursuit” , the annual magazine of the college was also released by the Principal. Certificates for Academic Excellence were awarded to students in various categories.
Ms Lito H Achumi, created history by being the first University Topper from the college and was honored with Achiever’s Award (NU Topper). She was also awarded the Dr Hokishe Sema Award of Excellence (Arts).
L.T. Yepthomi Award of Excellence (Commerce) was given to Ms N Wonchilo Odyuo. The subject toppers from all departments were also given certificates. The toppers from each department were Thungyani M Humtsoe (English), Zulumongla Jamir (Economics), Ruth N Yanthan (Education), Lito H Achumi (History), Limasunep Longchar (Philosophy), Suhana Begum (Political Science) and Rose Jami (Sociology).
