The Career Guidance Cell of Dimapur Government College (DGC) has launched a novel study group aimed at students aspiring to join the civil services and other allied services.
The initiative was introduced to address three key concerns faced by students preparing for competitive examinations. The first is the inability of economically weaker students to afford private coaching classes or study materials.
The second concern is the need for early exposure to civil services preparation before graduation. Many students begin exploring competitive examinations only after completing college, often losing a year or more in understanding the syllabus and preparation strategies.
College authorities said the new programme seeks to familiarise students with the culture of competitive exam preparation through regular guidance, positive exposure, and structured training while they are still in college.
“This initiative can help students save valuable time and resources while moving a step closer to their dream careers,” a college official said.
Under the programme, the college plans to develop a well-stocked library with resources for competitive examinations. It also aims to organise regular interactions with civil servants and establish a strong buddy system to encourage peer group learning.
The college expressed hope that the study group would empower students to navigate their career goals with greater confidence and preparation.
