Dimapur Government College (DGC) achieved a major milestone, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), by introducing the Science stream from the July 2025 session. The college already offers Arts and Commerce, and with this addition, it becomes one of the few multidisciplinary colleges in Nagaland.
According to an update from the college, the currently offered courses include Major in Mathematics and Physics, and Minor in Chemistry and Computer Science. More courses are expected to be introduced in the future.
A brief dedicatory program was held on the first day, i.e., 22nd July 2025, at the Science Block. The Principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir, welcomed the students (a total of 38), along with the faculty, and congratulated them on making DGC history. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude, particularly to the Honourable Minister, Shri Temjen Imna Along, for fulfilling the long-standing need of the college, with support from departmental officers and DGC stakeholders.
The program was attended by students, staff, faculty, and officials, including Temjensoba Longkumer, PA to the Hon’ble Minister; IQAC Coordinator Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu; Associate Professor Moamongla Aier; and N. Sentinungla Pongen, HoD of the Department of Philosophy.
That’s actually a big step for Dimapur — combining streams like that really opens up options for students. I remember how draining those early college days were, juggling classes and trying to stay focused. What helped me during breaks was finding something simple to reset mentally. I came across https://plinko.com.pk back then and started playing their Plinko game — nothing complicated, just a quick way to clear my head. The bonuses for users from Pakistan were a nice bonus too
