Dimapur police have reminded the public of the ban on firecrackers and urged everyone to act responsibly by refraining from bursting firecrackers during the festive season to ensure a safe and eco-friendly environment. The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, stated in an advisory that the use of firecrackers is not only environmentally hazardous but also poses health risks to both animals and humans due to the loud explosions and toxic gases. However, on Diwali or other festivals such as Gurpurab, when fireworks typically occur, they are permitted strictly between 8 p.m. and 10 pm only. On Christmas and New Year’s Eve, fireworks will be allowed only from 11:55 p.m. to 12:30 am.
