Dimapur, 12 November (MTNews): Two individuals were apprehended by the personnel of the West Police Station, Dimapur, today for stealing AC copper pipes at the NLTV Office. The thieves were identified as Ajay Shah, hailing from Dellia under Karbi Anglong, Assam, and Babu Nayak from Surupathar under Bokajan, Assam, both reportedly drug addicts.

According to NLTV reports, the incident came to light when NLTV staff noticed malfunctions in several office air conditioners. Upon inspection, it was discovered that copper pipes from seven AC units had been systematically cut out. Fearing further losses, an FIR was promptly lodged at the West Police Station on November 11. Police personnel, led by UBSI Lipok Longchari, promptly visited the NLTV office for investigation.

On the very next day, November 12, around 3 a.m., the police caught the duo red-handed while attempting to flee the scene. Upon intense interrogation, Ajay Shah and Babu Nayak confessed to being the culprits behind the AC copper pipe theft on November 11. They also admitted to being habitual drug abusers, residing on a footpath in Dimapur.

Further investigations revealed that the pair had previously targeted the ICICI bank a few months ago, stealing copper pipes from its air conditioning system. Both miscreants have now been booked under IPC Section 380/34.
