Dimapur Police return 110 recovered mobile phones to owners, emphasize importance of device security

The Dimapur Police has successfully reunited 110 recovered mobile phones with their rightful owners. The Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie, highlighted the indispensability of mobile phones in today’s world while cautioning about the risks associated with them falling into the wrong hands. He emphasized the potential dangers of personal information and sensitive data being exploited for fraud, identity theft, and other cybercrimes. Commissioner Sophie urged all mobile phone users to prioritize the security of their devices to prevent misuse.

Commissioner Sophie commended the officers and police personnel’s efforts and reiterated the importance of protecting personal information to mitigate the risks associated with unauthorized access to mobile devices.

 

In his address, Dimapur DCP Vesupra Kezo highlighted the various cybercrimes prevalent on mobile phones. He urged people to take preventive measures so that they do not become victims of cybercrimes.

 

Kezo added that citizens can report any kind of lost or stolen phones at the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal under the telecommunication department to trace and also block the lost or stolen phones.

 

The CEIR is an online portal designed to report and track lost mobile devices across the country.
