A consultative meeting to discuss the proposed railway belt from Dimapur to Tizit, Mon, took place on September 19, 2024, in Yonglok village. Chaired by MLA B Bangtick Phom, the meeting brought together local leaders, including Longleng Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom and representatives from the affected villages.

The gathering highlighted the importance of community involvement in development projects. MLA Phom encouraged all stakeholders to work together to ensure the project’s success. He stressed the need for village councils to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to move forward.

Key points from the meeting included the impact on three villages: Yonglok, Shetep, and Namahching. Participants agreed to hold a joint meeting with representatives from Dimapur and other towns along the proposed railway route. This meeting aims to present a unified request to the Chief Minister of Nagaland.

The group also conditionally agreed to issue NOCs, ensuring that affected residents receive fair compensation based on government rates. Additionally, there was strong support for establishing a railway station in Yonglok to serve the Longleng District.

The Bura Namsang Village Council voiced its support for the project, indicating a community commitment to development.
