The Directorate of Municipal Affairs, Nagaland, has directed beneficiaries under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) vertical of the PMAY-U 2.0 Mission to ensure that their bank accounts have a transaction limit of at least Rs 1 lakh to facilitate the timely transfer of housing subsidies.

In a circular issued on Friday, State Mission Director, PMAY-U Mission, and Director of Municipal Affairs, Temjenrenla Kechü, said the Rs 2.5 lakh subsidy would be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts in three instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using the Aadhaar-based payment mode.

The subsidy will be released in three instalments, with Rs 1 lakh each in the first and second instalments and Rs 50,000 in the third.

One point to check: if the original circular specifically says beneficiaries must update or modify their bank accounts, rather than merely ensure a transaction limit, the headline should retain “update bank accounts.” Otherwise, “ensure bank accounts meet transaction limit” would be more precise.
