Addressing the gathering, Zhimomi highlighted efforts made during his meetings with central department officials in Delhi to advance various sectors where the state has lagged behind. Emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in local production, he called upon government officials and attendees to collaborate closely with the Agri and Allied Departments for efficient product storage within the state.

Minister Zhimomi underscored the need for the cooperative societies registered in Nagaland to be scrutinized for their functionality, urging cooperation with institutions like the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank and private banks for progressive outcomes. He lamented the comparatively inactive status of cooperative societies in Nagaland, contrasting it with the successes seen in other Indian states, particularly in sectors like tourism. He urged the audience to activate these societies to drive sustainable progress.

Touching upon economic prospects, Minister Zhimomi highlighted the potential economic boost from the Dimapur Railway line, connecting entrepreneurship opportunities across Assam and ENPO regions. He revealed ongoing discussions to create business startup opportunities for educated Nagas, stressing the importance of leveraging local resources for economic development rather than relying solely on government jobs.

Describing it as a watershed moment in Nagaland’s cooperative movement, the minister said that, with the completion of the structure and its subsequent functioning, the cooperative movement in the state will be streamlined and pave the path for a more robust and integrated cooperative scene. He also said that it is the vision of the Prime Minister that cooperatives will contribute more in the coming 25 years than what they have contributed in a century. This can happen only by accepting changes and incorporating transparency, he added.

“May the new Directorate Building serve its intended purpose. With modern amenities and a comfortable working environment, I’m sure all concerned officers and staff will yield the best results,” he also said.

Prior to the inaugural program, the Minister unveiled the plaque of the new Directorate Building of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies office.
