The Department of Technical Education held a meeting in Kohima today with representatives of the All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) and the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) to discuss the proposed upgrade of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) into a fully-fledged engineering college.

Advisor for Technical Education, Temjenmenba, stated that the discussions were positive. While noting that a final decision has yet to be made, he said the government has invited student representatives to participate in negotiations with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in New Delhi.

Regarding delays in upgrading KPA, he attributed them to financial constraints despite repeated appeals to various authorities. However, he expressed optimism for a resolution soon, as the state’s Chief Minister has agreed to allocate the necessary funds.
