Zunheboto, 20 December (MTNews): The Multi-Purpose Hall in Zunheboto Town came alive with enchanting melodies as the District Band Zunheboto successfully conducted their Winter Concert on December 20, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of Er Kitoshe Aye, Superintending Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in the Government of Nagaland, who attended as the Special Guest.

In his keynote address, Er Kitoshe Aye extended his heartfelt congratulations to the District Band for orchestrating a spectacular musical event. He acknowledged the immense effort required to organize such concerts and commended the District Band Zunheboto for their initiative in hosting a grand winter concert within a relatively short duration.

Aye, a music enthusiast, emphasized the significance of music in his life, describing it as one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon humanity by God. He expressed his solidarity and pledged support to District Band Zunheboto, encouraging them to continue nurturing young artists and fostering musical talents in the region.

Speaking about the concert, Aye envisioned a new era where people of all ages could enjoy music and find a platform through District Band Zunheboto. He encouraged the band to serve its purpose and set an example for the younger generation. Aye concluded his address with a profound quote, urging the youth to make the right choices in life, emphasizing the preciousness of every moment.

Er Kitoshe Aye, who has deep roots in Zunheboto, reminisced about the vibrant music scene during the late 80s and 90s, highlighting the role of musicians and bands in bringing about social reformation. He revealed his personal connection to the local music scene, mentioning his participation as a guitarist in the first album “Oh Sumi qo ighilo” by Sumi Sheshu in 1993.

Viketoulie Metha, EAC Zunheboto, provided insights into the formation of District Band Zunheboto. He explained that the band was officially established on April 10, 2021, with the then Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo, as Chairman and Vikheshe Aye as Vice Chairman. Currently, Rahul Mali, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, serves as the Chairman.

Metha highlighted the primary objective of forming District Band Zunheboto, which is to uplift, encourage, and promote local artists by providing them with platforms to showcase their talents. He credited the incumbent Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, for actively participating as the Chairman of the band.

The Winter Concert featured performances by District Band Zunheboto and included National Awards recipients Sangeet Natak Akademi NK Naga and Sunon G Zhimo. Livi Yeptho and Tavin Chishi served as moderators for the event, which concluded with the organizers presenting an Acoustic Guitar to the esteemed Special Guest, Er Kitoshe Aye.
