The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland organised a documentation programme under the theme “The Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge” at Yakor village on February 18.

As part of the event, a workshop on “Traditional Craft and Weaving” was conducted. The programme was graced by J Kiumukam, Head G.B. of Yakor village, in the presence of the village council chairman and representatives of various frontal organisations.

The programme was chaired by Kiumukam, Assistant Curator, while the inaugural address was delivered by Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director, Department of Art and Culture, Nagaland. The resource persons included L Tohanba, S Yanhola, S Hanji, S. Perimong, T Rethsong and Z. Toshila.

T Yurahamong narrated the significance of the Morung, while Shokheamong shared the history of Yakor village. The programme witnessed cultural performances by Throngtsa Cultural Society and Sangpuntong Cultural Society. Interactive discussions and experience-sharing sessions involving youths and elders of Yakor village were also held.

Appreciation certificates were distributed by Teisovikuolie Therie, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Kiumukam. The event concluded successfully, fostering awareness and preservation of traditional knowledge and cultural heritage.
