Welcoming the first postgraduate students of the Departments of History and Sociology, Don Bosco College, Kohima hosted its 1st MA Fresher’s Day on September 2.

The event marked a significant milestone for the college, symbolising the expansion of its academic offerings, stated Rüguophrenuo Nishi Solo, Secretary of the DBCK Media Cell.

Prof. N. Venuh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, graced the occasion as the special invitee. In his address, Prof. Venuh encouraged the students to seize opportunities with sincerity and seriousness, while cautioning them against misleading content on social media platforms. He urged them to make the most of their time at Don Bosco College, a reputable institution, and work towards becoming respectable members of society.

Fr. Dr. Tious Varghese, SDB, Principal of DBCK, delivered the welcome address. The event also featured special performances by BA 5th semester and BA 3rd semester History students.

Speeches on behalf of the freshers were delivered by M. Trani Rakha (MA 1st semester, Sociology) and Virenthung Y (MA 1st semester, History). The programme was chaired by Chemla Chemtok (BA 5th semester, Sociology), while Fr. Dr. Xavier Mattam, SDB, Rector of DBCK, invoked God’s grace.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Lanukumla Ao, Assistant Professor, Department of History, DBCK.
