The apex Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has in a notification issued today instructed shops in Mokokchung not to open their shutters on Sundays for business or renovations. “The office of the Ao Students’ Conference hereby informs all concerned not to open any shops nor do any renovations on Sundays with effect from 6th of February 2022,” the notification said. AKM explained that this was to “maintain the sanctity and to safeguard the sentiments of the people irrespective of faith.”
While directing the business establishments to “adhere by the laws and practices of the land,” the AKM notification appended by its President, Nungdokyanger Ao, and General Secretary Nekmi Longkumer, cautioned that stern action would be taken against those who violate the directive.
