Mokokchung District Football Association has confirmed the detailed schedule of the much awaited Dr. T. Ao XXII Inter District Football Trophy to be played in Mokokchung at a press conference today.
Tournament Co-convenor, Imlikumzuk, informed that all the 16 districts have confirmed their participation at the tournament and that all teams will be reaching Mokokchung on April 17. The opening ceremony for the trophy will be held on April 18, followed by the commencement of matches from April 19 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
He also informed that the opening ceremony will be graced by Nagaland Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, G. Kaito Aye as the special guest while the closing program along with the final match will be graced by Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio.
Meyisanger Lemtur, President MDFA, talking about the renovation and face-lift of the venue, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, said that, MDFA despite limited resources are trying their best to go ahead with the major renovation works at the venue. He also added that the association was receiving assistance from various governmental departments in the district.
He further appealed to the people of Mokokchung for participation in one of the biggest sporting events of the district and to appreciate things from a positive point of view while urging the citizens to bring forth suggestions towards the successful hosting of the tournament.
The prize money for the tournament was also announced during the press conference today. The champion will pocket Rs.3 lakhs and the runners up Rs.2 lakhs. Besides, there will be various other prizes including individual prizes.
