Guwahati, March 29 (MTNews): Incumbent Himanta Biswa Sarma was re-elected unopposed as the president of Badminton Association of India (BAI) for a second term of four years – 2022 to 2026 – during its General Body Meeting in Guwahati on March 25.
He was elected as BAI president for the first time in 2017. He is also a Badminton Asia Vice President and a member of the Badminton World Federation Executive Council.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA) have congratulated Dr. Watizulu Süzümeren Jamir, Sr. Vice President, NBA on being elevated to the post of Vice President, Badminton Association of India ( BAI) for the tenure 2022-26 to be led by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as President. Dr. Watizulu had been holding the post of Joint Secretary, BAI during the last tenure.
“NBA is grateful to the BAI family for reposing its confidence on Dr. Watizulu to hold this prestigious responsibility. His inclusion in the new team will hopefully inspire greater motivation for the players and lovers of the game in the State,” NBA vice president Lemjan Phom said in a press statement today. “We hope to see bold initiatives from him for Badminton in Nagaland and wish him all success in his endeavors,” the NBA further said.
