Mokokchung, 13 October (MTNews): Following the meeting in New Delhi where Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues engaged with MHA Special Adviser AK Mishra, requesting a working paper outlining a potential agreement for their review, significant progress has been made on the draft agreement.

As reported by NELive, the draft agreement, involving the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland, and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), is close to finalization and is anticipated to be ready for final consultations by October 15.

Informed sources reportedly told the news outlet that after the draft reaches completion, representatives from the Central Government, ENPO, and the Government of Nagaland will convene in New Delhi to conduct a final round of discussions before officially signing the agreement.

ENPO has been demanding for the establishment of a separate state carved out of Nagaland’s six eastern districts: Mon, Kiphire, Longleng, Tuensang, Shamator, and Noklak.
