Mokokchung, November 23 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Wednesday said that ‘Covid-19 Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses’ deserve appreciation and not humiliation, stating that for the state was most successful in taking care of Covid-19 patients especially because of nurses, doctors and medical staff.
“In our view, they deserve appreciation. They deserve award not humiliation,” NPCC president K Therie said in a press release.
Referring to the recent impasse between the Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses (DRAN2021) and the State Government over service regulation of the former, Therie said that he felt expressing his party’s sympathy to the aggrieved nurses could have toughened the “un-accommodative attitude” of the State Government. “So have delayed (expressing) our view,” he said.
Therie said that permanent posts were created and advertisements made. “Zoom interviews were conducted and appointments given online without giving a chance to the nurses to react. They were immediately deployed in the Covid hospitals in the height of the pandemic. After the pandemic, this heartless Government has decided to throw them out,” he alleged.
He said that while the nurses were appointed against posts created in an emergency time of need, there, however, is no question of doubting their skill or capability “after having used their services in the most difficult of times our generation has seen.” He said, “Not only have they responded to society’s needs but have also proven their valour by sacrificing themselves at the frontline.”
“Nagaland was most successful in taking care of Covid-19 patients. This success belongs especially to Nurses, Doctors and Medical staff,” the release added.
“We are not the only ones living on earth. The world is looking at the merciless attitude of the people’s Government of Nagaland,” the NPCC president said, further adding that such an act from a people’s government was shameful and that the decision to throw them out was outrageous.
