The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has lodged a First Information Report at the West Police Station in connection with the alleged destruction of road dividers and traffic infrastructure in Dimapur, calling for strict legal action against those responsible.
In a press release, the federation strongly condemned what it described as the destruction of public property, particularly damage to road dividers and traffic infrastructure within the commercial hub. It stated that such actions not only endanger public safety but also reflect a disregard for civic responsibility and the rule of law.
The DUCCF informed that an FIR has been officially filed at the West Police Station, Dimapur, and appealed to the authorities to take swift and firm action. It urged both the Traffic Police and the West Police Station to thoroughly investigate the matter, identify the culprit and ensure full accountability.
Stating that public property is created and maintained with taxpayers’ money for the welfare and safety of citizens, the federation said any wilful destruction must not go unpunished. It demanded that the accused be booked under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable laws governing damage to public property.
The federation maintained that strict legal action would serve as a deterrent and reinforce respect for public infrastructure in the city, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding civic assets and maintaining public order.
