Mokokchung, March 11 (MTNews): A textile expert from the Netherlands, Heijdenrijk Johana Maria (PUM Netherlands Senior Expert) and Aditee Chetia, a representative from India, visited Wangti, Chenloishu, Chenwetnyu villages under Mon district on 8 March. These villages are situated in the remotest corner of the Indo-Myanmar border under Mon district.

 

 

A press release received here on Saturday stated that the purpose of their visit was to explore the opportunity to invest in small scale industry, especially in the field of textiles, weaving and knitting in which the border area people are experts in, and to provide employment to the poor and needy womenfolk of the border area in the future if there is a conducive environment.

 

While International Border Organization SCMP Nagaland president, Kohimong , Co-ordinator Shomwang Wangnao and ‘Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar’ (SCMP) Northeast in-charge Agur Gogoi and Hanry James joining along with the textile experts visited the same villages to review and inspect the developmental activities that are being carried out along the Indo-Myanmar border area.

 

The visitors were warmly welcomed by the villagers led by its village council chairman A Pongthra, Angh of the Wangti village and briefed them about the progress being made and also the condition of the rural people, the press release stated.
