Dy CM Patton conducts surprise inspections in Wokha, 12 staff found absent

Continuing his series of surprise inspections across government offices, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton visited several departments in Wokha on Friday, where a total of 12 staff members were found absent.

The offices inspected included the Horticulture Office, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), District Planning & Machinery Office, and Land Resources Office. Among them, the Horticulture Department reported one absentee out of eleven staff, PHED had one absentee out of thirty-two, Planning & Machinery recorded five absentees out of fourteen, while the Land Resources Office registered five absentees out of seventeen.

The deputy Chief minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Wokha Vineet Kumar (IAS), Superintendent of Police Wokha Relo Aye, and representatives of Lotha Hoho and Lotha Students’ Union, including their presidents Mhondamo Ovung and Lirhonthung Kithan.

Speaking during the visit, Patton acknowledged that many staff members were sincerely performing their duties but cautioned that even a few unjustified absences could disrupt public service delivery. He called on all departments to uphold discipline and accountability to ensure citizens receive the services they are entitled to.

Patton further stated that such inspections will continue in order to reinforce a culture of responsibility and transparency within the government machinery.
