Members of the Naro clan in Dzülhami village, Phek district, have officially restored their original identity as the Vero clan, reaffirming their ancestral roots and heritage.
A total of 51 households comprising 235 members made a formal declaration on March 24, with representatives from the Vero clan across Phek district and Western Chakhesang areas in attendance.
The move comes after careful deliberation and community consensus, reversing years of identification as the Naro clan. Later in the day, the Nyekha clan from Suthozu Nawu (21 households, 89 members) also declared they would henceforth be known as the Vero clan.
The programme included an Act of Blessing led by Pastor Vezokho Vero of the Naga Shisha Hoho Prayer Centre, with speeches calling for unity, honesty, and faith in community life.
