Mokokchung, August 7 (MTNews): The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (HFW), launched e-Sanjeevani, a nationwide teleconsultation service, in Nagaland on Saturday.
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom said that the initiative will replace the state government’s Naga telehealth, a telemedicine platform and assisted teleconsultation system, in order to alleviate the urban-rural divide in healthcare services. The minister said this during a program that recognized three health care institutions in the state for receiving National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) in healthcare service.
The minister expressed optimism that e-Sanjeevani will allow patients in rural areas to access quality healthcare services. Phom also asked the officials to encourage healthcare workers and the general public to use the platform for the benefit and welfare of all involved.
AsanglaImti, the government of Nagaland’s Secretary for HFW, explained that e-Sanjeevani is a teleconsultation service that enables patients to receive medical attention while sitting at home or by travelling to the closest hospital.
According to her, this is a clinical consultation between a doctor and patient that is safe and structured over the phone.
If correctly implemented, it is a citizen-centric online-based outpatient consultation that can be highly helpful for patients in remote locations, according to Imti.
