The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU), Myanmar has extended congratulations to the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) on the successful achievement of the Frontier Nagaland Territory Authority (FNTA) on February 5, 2026.
In a press release issued from its headquarters in Yinchung, Lahe, Naga Self Administered Zone, Myanmar, the EKU stated that it was conveying its “heartfelt congratulation” to the ENPO on the successful signing of the Frontier Nagaland Territory Authority (FNTA) for six districts of Nagaland. It described the development as unique and reflective of the aspirations of the people of eastern Nagaland.
“Historically ENPO is our apex organisation,” the EKU stated, noting that it represents the Eastern Naga people, including those living across the “artificial boundary line.”
The EKU acknowledged the role of ENPO leaders for their selfless service towards the Eastern Naga people in reaching the milestone and appreciated Naga leaders who unconditionally supported the FNTA Memorandum of Agreement, calling it a “practical gesture” of solidarity and unity among the Naga people.
The Union also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and other leaders of India for granting the FNTA, describing it as a special arrangement to promote development in the ENPO areas.
Appealing to ENPO and Nagaland state leaders, the EKU urged attention to the needs of Eastern Konyak areas across the Myanmar border, stating that they are “one family by birth from the origin of the history till present context.”
The Union stated that Eastern Konyak areas on the Myanmar side continue to face severe hardship, with limited access to basic necessities and development. It stated that the region has “no government” and that the Myanmar government has neglected the area, resulting in a lack of basic development and public suffering.
Appealing to the ENPO, the Government of Nagaland and the Government of India, the EKU sought developmental intervention and humanitarian assistance. It also expressed gratitude to ENPO and Naga leaders for extending support in the form of education and basic needs over the years, and voiced hope that further development would reach the region on humanitarian grounds.
