The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nagaland, setting November 25 as the deadline for disposal of claims and objections and November 30 for publication of the final electoral roll.
The Commission has also extended SIR timelines in Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Telangana following requests from the chief electoral officers of the concerned states. The poll panel issued separate communications to the five states and the Union Territory of Delhi regarding the extensions, PTI reported.
The ECI informed the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland that the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections, which began on September 20, will now continue until November 25, while the final electoral roll will be published on November 30.
The Commission has directed officials to inform all stakeholders of the revised schedule and ensure wide publicity through available media. Political parties must also be informed of the changes in writing.
