Jakhama, November 18 (MTNews): Commissioner of State Taxes, Government of Nagaland, Thejawelie Gregory today asserted that education instills responsibility and human values apart from academic achievement. He was addressing the Silver Jubilee Celebration of St. Joseph College, Autonomous, Jakhama Alumni Association.
He said college is a stepping stone to achieve our aspirations but after attaining that one should be of help to the society. Gregory called the attendance of alumni and students to come out of one’s comfort zones as this was key to achieving goals targeted to change. The speaker pointed out that identifying problems and providing solutions in the community comes by putting into practice what we are taught in college.
Dr Fr George Keduolhou Angami Principal, St Joseph College said the fundamental reason why the college has Alumni Meet is to create an opportunity for the College to show love and affection towards former graduate students and celebrate the achievements of students. He also lauded the role played by the Alumni Association in submitting the Annual Quality Assurance Report to NAAC. The principal also said that the college that started small has grown to exceed four thousand students and more than a hundred teaching staff today.
During the program, Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, 1st President, Alumni Association, 1985 Alumni shared a memoir. A jubilee memorial basketball match was also organized after the formal program.
