During the inauguration, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero emphasized the paramount importance of education for holistic development of individuals. He praised Pfutsero for its serene and peaceful environment, richly endowed with natural beauty, making it an ideal place for students’ education.

The government had approved the proposal for opening a science stream college in Pfutsero and the upgradation of GHS Pfutsero to GHSS, along with the construction of new classrooms, which was completed in 2017, according to Nieba Kronu, former Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change.

Apart from Pfutsero, the government has also started offering the science stream at GHSS Kiphire, Longleng, and Peren since 2022.

Dr Mero also drew inspiration from the life of the legendary sprinter, Milkha Singh, who, despite the challenges of being separated from his parents during the India-Pakistan partition, achieved greatness and won gold medals in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his commitment to school upgrades and to Advisor School Education Dr Kekhrie Yhome for introducing the science stream. He further thanked former minister Neiba Kronu for his initiatives in this regard.
